Sunday Morning Classes
Current Classes
- Four Lenses, One Jesus: The Distinct (Yet Coherent) Witness of the Four Gospels. Have you ever wondered why God led the early church to adopt not one—but four—accounts of the life of Jesus? They tell the same story, but each Gospel writer notices particular details of who Jesus is, and what it means to follow him. Peer through each of these Biblical “lenses” as David Casson leads this 7-week comparison of our four Gospels. 9:45 a.m., January 8-February 26. Room 214.
- Young Adults: Discipleship Essentials. Tired of just floating along in your faith? Come learn to practice some basic, but life-changing habits for growing in your relationship with God. 9:45 a.m. Room 219.
- CrossCurrents: The Truth Project. This community-building class will resume the Fall video/discussion study by Dr. Del Tackett, looking at life from a biblical perspective. 9:45 a.m., January 8-March 4. Room 218.
- Parenting Class: Never Mind the Joneses (2nd session). It’s a habit that can drive us crazy: constantly comparing our families to those on the block (or even in the congregation). Using a helpful book by Tim Stafford, Diana Pooley leads this discussion for parents of all ages on how to “parent without fear,” building core Christian values into our children in a way that fits who God made our family to be, unique and different from every other family. Don’t worry if you weren’t able to catch the first part of this class last fall—you’ll fit right into the discussion of new topics.9:45 a.m., January 8-February 26. Room 221 ("The Study").
Please note: There will be no classes on February 5, to accommodate a special worship service and congregational meeting that morning.
Coming Soon
- New Member Inquiry Class. Four-part class offering a chance to discuss our faith, theology and questions about the church. 9:45 a.m. Scheduled periodically--we are taking sign-ups in Fellowship Hall for the next set of classes in 2012. 9:45 a.m. Conference Room A.
Teaching/Study Resource
Do you sometimes need help understanding a Bible passage as you prepare to teach children, youth, or adults (whether in Sunday school, a covenant group, or Disciple), or are you just curious yourself? Thanks to a generous gift, the Adult Christian Education Ministry Unit has purchased the 12-volume New International Bible commentary. This resource summarizes the best of Biblical scholarship in a non-technical and readable format. You’ll find it in room 221 (aka "The Study") in the second-floor adult education wing. It’s our way of supporting all those who help this congregation grow in faith.
