Travel
Travel outings include everything from short, local trips to weeks-long tours of the Holy Land. Watch the bulletin boards and sign-up sheets in Fellowship Hall, as well as notices in the bulletins and newsletters, for information on upcoming outings.
Hiking Group
Informal group for people interested in hiking several times/year. Call Nancy Harwood (858-0184) or Ros Fooksman (822-1428).
Camping Trip
Each summer we have a church camping trip to the East Mountains, staying close enough to enable easy travel to and from the Albuquerque metro area but getting away enough for a change of scenery and some great fellowship.
Sports Outings
Several times throughout the year church-wide outings are arranged to local sports events such as Lobos football games, Lady Lobos basketball games, and Isotopes baseball games.
Sandia Actors' Theatre
The Sandia Actors Theatre writes and produces frequent, brief skits during the worship services to publicize programs or accentuate special messages. This group also writes and presents evening Christmas productions and other theatrical productions.
Family Life Center Players
The FLC Players put on musical revues, such as Broadway and USO shows, a couple of times/year.
Sonshine Gang
The Sonshine Gang meets for lunch at a restaurant at 11:30 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of most months. This month the gathering will be on May 27 at Le Peep on Louisiana NE.
Young Adults
We offer Sunday morning Bible study for 20- to 30-somethings, plus a restaurant lunch after church on the first Sunday of each month during the school year. Singles or couples, with or without children, are welcome.
Sandia Supper Bunch
A group of mid-range adults (30s-50s) gets together for potluck dinners and fellowship, usually on the second Saturday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Certain outings or gatherings are open to families, while the rest are adults-only.
20/20 Club
The 20/20 Club is a support group for those who are losing vision and their families, usually meeting at 2:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month (except for noon potlucks in June and December and a summer break in July and August). Meetings involve special presentations and sharing/support sessions involving such things as compensation, alternative techniques, and problems and solutions. There is no charge, and anyone is welcome. If you know someone who is having difficulty seeing, please recommend the 20/20 Club. If you need help with transportation, please contact Virginia Campbell, 281-9399.
Golf Outings
During warmer weather we offer monthly golf outings at various local courses.
Boy Scouts!
Sandia hosts Boy Scout Troop 1, which meets Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. Visitors and newcomers are welcome. Contact Scoutmaster Brian Hanson, 856-1386; or C.O.R. Evan Jones, 797-9393.
