Music plays an important role in all worship services. A variety of hymns, from classical to contemporary, accommodates the wide range of musical tastes during the more traditional services, while the praise band leads the congregation during the contemporary service. The chancel choir sings at both of the other Sunday services.
Soloists and small vocal groups perform regularly at both traditional services, as do a brass quintet and other small instrumental groups. The children’s choir and children from the weekday preschool periodically sing in church. The youth provide all music on Youth Sunday, as well as performing as individuals or groups at other services.
The chancel choir rehearses at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The praise band rehearses Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The handbell choir rehearses Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. in the choir room.
Sandia members put on an annual Broadway revue and dinner in April each year, with plenty of opportunities for singing, dancing, and backstage work.
