THE HISTORY OF LAS MANOS

In the spring of 2009 the Mexico Mission Committee made the decision that after 14 years of building houses with Amor Ministries in the outskirts of Tijuana, it was not going to be safe to go that summer because of drug violence on the border. The committee had only 5 weeks to find a new location for a team of 59 high school students and adult leaders to serve.

God brought us Iowa City, Iowa, to work with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church to assist in the clean up of the June 2008 flood, the worst on record to hit Iowa. While doing yard work, drywall and painting we learned that service is about doing what God wants us to do, not what we think others need. Everyone felt the work of the Holy Spirit telling us that we had to continue to serve as the hands of God not just in Mexico but in Albuquerque and beyond. The Las Manos Project was born.

Mid high and high school students have caught the passion to listen to God and serve where He wants us to.  Today we are actively listening to God's call to be the hands of God in Albuquerque and beyond.

Join us to be LAS MANOS DE DIOS EN EL MUNDO!
