Adult Christian Education and Formation offers classes and groups for adults to further their growth as followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that adults grow as disciples through learning, applying, and following the truth of Jesus Christ in the context of community. In our classes and groups, you will have opportunities for discussion, reflection, and the formation of mutually encouraging relationships.

Young Professionals

Are you in your 20’s or 30’s, single, or married without children? Looking for meaningful friendships, often hard to come by in ABQ? Longing for some deeper spiritual connection, or encouragement on the journey of following Jesus? Connect with other young professionals who are pursuing Jesus in the company of friends:

- Monthly social events: some of our young professional leaders host a social event about once a month. NEXT ONE: TBD

- Wed. evening small group: another young couple hosts a small group in their home, every Wednesday 7pm for Bible study and discussion.

To connect with either of these or if you're just looking for someone to listen in this stage of life, contact Pastor Matt Pooley

Mom's Connection

Mom's Connection is a group for moms encouraging spiritual growth and Christ-focused parenting through Bible studies and fellowship. Every Wednesday Morning 9:15a-11:15a, child care provided.

Dads' Ministry

A team of SPC dads coordinates events to get a whole new generation of fathers at SPC fully invested in the work and future of disciple-making: father/child events; in-home gatherings for dads to connect.

Parenting &/or Marriage Classes

What parent doesn't need help, encouragement, and guidance? Visit our Classes tab below or our Wednesday Fellowship page for the most recent and upcoming opportunities for parenting and/or marriage.

Family Dinners

SPC families occasionally open their home to newly visiting SPC families who are looking to connect and build friendships in our church.

Are you new to Sandia Pres anytime in the last year, and do you have children school-age or younger? This summer, an SPC family will be hosting a few “family dinners” for new visiting families to get to know other families in our church. You’re invited! Dinners are Sat. 6/22, 7/20, and 8/10 at 5pm. If you’d like to attend one of them or want more info, contact Pastor Matt Pooley.

Tools for Discipleship at Home

Trying to figure out how to talk about Jesus in a meaningful way with kids of any age in your home? Try the Parent Cue app, which many SPC parents use to do something each week to help move their child toward a deeper faith and a better future.

Contact Pastor Matt Pooley for more info or to connect with any of these groups or opportunities!

Senior Luncheons: On the third Wednesday of each month, Rev. Dewey Johnson hosts a Senior Luncheon in Fellowship Hall. Box lunches are available to order from Panera, you may bring your lunch, or even opt not to eat. Each luncheon features a different interesting speaker. The talks are on topics of particular interest to senior citizens: financial and legal issues, health and wellness, concerns about crime and scams, New Mexico and Albuquerque history, and more. Signups are in Fellowship Hall on the three Sundays prior to the event. Join us to meet other Sandians and enjoy a great presentation!

Contact Rev. Dewey Johnson for more info.

Small Groups

Looking for a group where you can consistently study God's word, pray for one another, share honestly in life's struggles together, and grow as a disciple? SPC offers a variety of groups to do that - men's, women's, co-ed, in-home, at church, etc. For more info on an existing group or starting a new group, contact Pastor Matt Pooley.

Mere Christianity

Do you have questions about the basics of the Christian faith? Or would you like to help someone else better understand the Christian faith? Get a spiritual growth jumpstart on the decade by joining thinking people who are reading and sharing the great classic, C. S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity. One of the most important and popular introductions to the Christian faith, C. S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity continues to sell millions of copies around the world. In this book, Lewis sets out to explain the beliefs that are common to all Christians at all times. In this 9-week class, we will watch a video and talk together about important ideas that Lewis presents. We will be using a recent edition of Mere Christianity published by HarperOne, though any edition will work.

Led by Rev. Suzanne Ebel in Room 214 at 9:30 AM and repeated at 10:45 AM on Sundays, January 5–March 1.

Deuteronomy – CrossCurrents

The Sunday School class CrossCurrents is reading and discussing Deuteronomy to deepen our understanding of God’s faithfulness and righteousness and what it means for us to live in faith and obedience.

Led by Greg Chalmers and Margi Zoucha on Sundays in Room 218 at 10:45 AM.

Fruits of the Spirit – Monday Morning Missions

The Monday Morning Missions Sunday School class is discussing the "Fruits of the Spirit." We use a short video by Jon Jorgenson to start the discussion. We are very excited about this subject, as it supports our overall goal of striving to share and live our faith Monday through Saturday at work, home, and at play.

Led by Gary Oppedahl on Sundays in Room 221/The Study at 8:15 AM.

Foundational Truths for Christians

This Disciple class is studying the truths that are foundational for our lives as followers of Jesus Christ. In this class, we will cover the relationship between the law and the gospel, the life and ministry of Jonathan Edwards, and Jesus' farewell discourse in John 13–17. Each class consists of a video by a distinguished scholar followed by discussion. This 30-week class meets on Mondays from 9–11 AM in Room 220. It starts on September 9 and ends on April 13. Contact Lyle Petersen at  for more information.
