Dear Members and Friends of SPC,
Good news! We will be meeting again for in-person worship!!
The latest guidance from the Governor and the State of New Mexico (as of May 15, 2020) is that places of worship can open to 25% of building capacity. This means some churches in New Mexico will be meeting this Sunday for worship. Our Session has approved the recommendations of a re-opening task force with a rescheduled reopening for May 31.
On Sunday, May 31 we will meet for traditional worship in the sanctuary at 9am. We will follow the 25% guidelines which means we can host a total of 150 in the sanctuary with overflow in the fellowship hall of 20 people. We will follow all the mandated safe distancing guidelines.
On Sunday, May 31, we will have contemporary worship in the Family Life Center (gym) at 11am. The 25% guideline means we can include 175 people in the gym. Again, we will follow all the mandated safe distancing guidelines.
If these venues exceed capacity we will be forced to turn people away. However, we will transmit the services again on FM radio. This was very successful during our Easter Sunday drive in service.
FOR MORE DETAILS, PLEASE VIEW OR DOWNLOAD THE SPC REOPENING PLAN.
There is a lot to consider when reopening the church and most of your questions are probably addressed in that plan.
Finally, let me say this, and it is very important. If you are a person whose age or underlying health makes you vulnerable, we strongly recommend you stay home and worship with us online. If you are feeling sick or fear you may have been exposed to the virus, we also ask you to stay home. If you are just uncomfortable for any reason, we ask you to stay home. We will continue online worship services because many people are not ready or able to be presence of other people.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns I can address. I can’t wait to see you all again!
